Wildermuth honored for 1,000 career assists

Coming off a long 5-set victory over Beavercreek on Monday, the Tippecanoe volleyball team welcomed West Carrollton to the Pat Wampler Gymnasium and finished the the Pirates in straight sets 25-8, 25-9, 25-12 in a game you can rewatch on demand on the TKDS Sports Network.
In the game, Tipp senior Hannah Wildermuth was honored for reaching a big milestone with her 1,000th career assist which came in her last game.
“It is a great milestone for her, she has worked so hard the last few years,” said acting head coach Jamie Voisard, filling in for head coach Howard Garcia who was out of town. “It was great to acknowledge it tonight.”
“She has overcome a lot with injuries and every day she is working her way back and is playing it safe,” said Voisard. “She has worked as hard as anyone out there and wants to be out on this court.”
The two teams battled in the first set with the game tied at 4-4 before Wildermuth served two points to give Tipp a lead they would never relinquish, Alexa Mader then reeled off three straight to push the Tipp lead to 13-6.
Freshman Savannah Clawson closed out the first set with nine straight points with solid net play from Alex Voisard.
Tipp dominated the second set, jumping out 11-2 as Clawson again put together a big run, scoring six points, then later in the set, Voisard scored five straight with two aces to give Tipp a 19-5 lead. Two big kills by Olivia Gustavson and three points from Clawson sent Tipp into the third set with a chance at a sweep.
West Carrollton battled back in set three after trailing 10-3 behind points from Tayla Martin and later they closed the game to 16-11, but Tipp pulled away behind Ellie McCormick scoring six points for the Red Devils.
Tipp remains unbeaten in the conference, going 13-0 in the MVL and 14-1 overall. They travel to Greenville on Thursday then return home Saturday against Eaton for a noon start in a game you can watch on the TKDS Sports Network.
