Centerville varsity boys basketball team won it’s 15th game in a row and moved to 25-3 on the year with a 63-49 win over the #1 state ranked Mentor Cardinals. The Elks held a team that was averaging 86 points to 49!

Centerville controlled the game basically from the start jumping out to an 11-2 lead and maintaining  the lead the entire game. The Elks lead 15-7 at the end of the 1st quarter and 22-15 at the half. The Elks were able to do something that they have rarely had to do all year and that is play without sophomore point guard Gabe Cupps who was in foul trouble most of the night and not able to play his usual 31+ minutes. Sophomore Kyle Kenney stepped up big time for the Elks.

Also coming off the bench to contribute great minutes were Jayson Hayes, Ryan Kiefer and Quinn Hafner. The Elks went 9 deep to handle the Cardinals. The Elks led 36-24 heading into the 4th quarter and maintained a comfortable lead the rest of the game. Tom House had 21 points and Gabe Cupps 11 points to lead the Elks in scoring but this team has so many contributors in so many other ways it is what makes them a great team.
